Meet some of our Police Officers

Our Police Officers come from all walks of life and backgrounds. Our case studies below are at varying stages of their career within the police, and these demonstrate the varying paths you can take within the police family.

I absolutely love me job and making a positive difference when people need help and support. Every day is different when you are a police officer, as every shift involves a variety of incidents. After 18 Years in rewarding roles, including neighbourhood teams, response, public order and criminal investigations, I would recommend this career to anyone.

I joined in October 2021 under the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship Scheme. The biggest bonus of this scheme is the fact my degree is paid for by Devon & Cornwall Police. The role of an officer is incredibly rewarding, knowing that you are genuinely making a difference to people's lives on a daily basis and having a long lasting effect in a positive way. Every shift is different with this job, and I love that diversity.

A/Insp Saundercock, Performance and Inclusion Team, Middlemoor

Kirsty Saundercock

Being a police officer in Devon and Cornwall has provided me with the opportunity to unlock a capability I didn't know I had. Serving as an Armed Response Sergeant was both physically and mentally challenging, but the sense of pride I felt was incredible. I worked alongside some inspirational colleagues who made me feel part of a unique team.

PC Liam Smith, Patrol Officer in North Devon

PC Liam Smith

After serving in the Army for 14 years, I wanted to join the police to help people in need. There is no better feeling than walking away from a job knowing I really did help them and possibly saved them from further harm. A career in policing has given me everything the Army did and some excitement, being part of a family and a way of life with a moral code to live by. I would encourage anyone to join up!
