Meet some of our Police Officers
Our Police Officers come from all walks of life and backgrounds. Our case studies below are at varying stages of their career within the police, and these demonstrate the varying paths you can take within the police family.
PC Jack Cornick, Patrol Officer in Bournmouth
I joined Dorset Police in 2019 and it's the best decision I have ever made. After leaving university I wanted a career that offered diversity, career progression and excitement and I can definitely say that my role ticks all three boxes! I have received lots of training and development opportunities and it's refreshing to work in an environment where I feel really supported. I still have lots to learn but I am excited to see how my career unfolds

Sgt Hayley Crawford, Operational Firearms Commander
I joined the police in 2005 and I took my sergeant's exam five years later. In 2016 I joined the firearms tram as an Authorised Firearms Firearms Officer. After having another baby, I decided the time was right to go for promotion. I am now an operational Firearms Commander and the Support Sergeant on the Firearms Unit. My role focuses on equality, diversity and inclusion within the unit, and the welfare of officers. I am passionate about encouraging people from all backgrounds to consider an exciting career as a firearms officer.

PC Paul Miners, Response Officer based in Dorchester
I joined under the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship scheme and every day has been different. I have always wanted to be a police officer and make a positive difference to the community I serve. I am part of a great team and policing family, who all look out for each other. My journey in Dorset Police is still relatively new, but I can't imagine doing anything else. I will always be proud of what I do and who I work for.

PC Libby Peak, Marine Force Support Group, Poole
I had already spent a year as a special constable in Bournemouth when I joined as an officer, serving for six years as a response officer in Poole before joining the marine team. I love the fact that every day is different and I can do my bit to improve the area I live in. I have had some incredible experiences in this team that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Dorset Police also helped me to get an assessment and diagnosis for ADHD two years ago. My life as a whole is better as a result.
