Application buddy to support you - Relocation package offered to all transferees - Military experience recognised instead of qualifications

Don't see your rank? You are able to express an interest in transferring to Dorset Police for other ranks, as a level transfer or on promotion. By doing this you will be notified by email when we are next open for recruitment for that rank.

Transferee relocation package up to a maximum of £8,000.

The package is applicable to transferees who live beyond the force boundary and/or at least 30 miles from their future permanent place of work within Dorset.

This offer applies only to those who are able and willing to transfer before 31 March 2026.

Police officers who are eligible to claim a relocation package are entitled to payment of reasonable expenses. Finance will determine whether or not a transferee is eligible to claim relocation expenses and whether such expenses are reasonable. To qualify for reimbursement, expenses must be supported by receipts. Reasonable relocation expenses will be paid in respect of the following:

  • Disposal of former property.
  • Acquisition of new property.
  • Removal expenses.
  • Travelling and subsistence.

If the transferee resigns, transfers or retires from Dorset Police within two years of joining, they will be required to fully repay those expenses received.

If the officer requests a career break and this is agreed, the length of service will be suspended from the date the career break starts. When the two years’ service in total, combining the period before and after any career break, has been completed, there will no longer be a liability to repay any part of the relocation package.
