This role is in partnership with Locate International and covers activities which aim to provide support to police personnel with cold case missing person cases. The Missing Person Support Volunteer Role allows volunteers the opportunity to review cold case missing person cases to search for new lines of enquiry which can then be investigated by police personnel. This role will assist and support activities within a desktop investigation focused environment, however the volunteer MUST NOT be involved with tasks which may result in them being part of an evidential chain

• Work with Locate International and Devon and Cornwall Police to examine cold case missing person cases on Niche.
• Collate publicly available information on missing and unidentified persons.
• Perform desktop based open source research into the cold cases to look for new and develop relevant lines of enquiry.
• Cross reference records and highlight discrepancies and gaps in information.
• Pass any new lines of enquiry to police personnel to be further investigated.
• Provide technical advice, guidance and support within digital investigations and intelligence (DII) regarding missing persons within the Devon & Cornwall Police force area.
• Keep abreast of new and emerging technologies and techniques to identify missing persons and trends in behaviour.
• Undertake any other actions in pursuance of relevant projects
